So you’ve smoked a little too much? It’s ok, breathe, it happens to the best of us. Luckily, there are a few things we can do to come down and in time feel a lot better.
- Relax
Try to take your mind off the topic. You can do so by shifting your focus elsewhere. For example, listen to some of your favourite music and really try to enjoy it. Watching a movie or YouTube video can help too as it distracts you from diving too deep into your own thoughts.
- Drink Water
I know, not the most exciting advice. However, it really does work! To lessen discomfort from being too high, drink lots of water, tea, or other soft beverages to stay hydrated. The American Dental Association has shown a connection between marijuana use and oral dryness, which can worsen the effects of having a dry mouth (xerostomia) from smoking or swallowing marijuana.
When someone is already too high, they shouldn’t drink alcohol. It may exacerbate marijuana’s side effects and the euphoric state.
- Food, Food, Food
Do you ever find that food tastes 10x better when high? Don’t go overboard with the snacks but indulge in eating something light to help rid the nausea. Try some fruits or toast.
- Get Fresh Air
Go for a stroll if you have access to a less crowded park or street where you can do so without worrying about appearing high (cue red eyes) in front of others. One of the numerous revitalising advantages of a 15-minute walk is that it can help your body digest cannabinoids a little more quickly by waking up your metabolism.
- CBD
According to a previous study, ingesting CBD can help lessen some of the more unpleasant marijuana side effects, like euphoria, drowsiness, and a rapid heartbeat.
Cannabinoids extracted from the cannabis plant include CBD and THC. The psychoactive properties of marijuana are due to THC, but CBD by itself has no intoxicating properties.
By inhibiting cannabinoid receptors in the brain and preventing THC from activating them, CBD can lessen the psychoactive effects of THC.
Try ingesting CBD gummies or placing some CBD oil on the tongue.
We hope these tips help! Just remember to breathe and know that everything is going to be just fine.
